Sleep is a highly sensitive digital biomarker of the brain. We believe that measuring sleep with high precision will lead to a better understanding of the pathology of brain and mental illnesses. For example, psychiatric disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia; developmental disorders such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and autism spectrum disorder; and central neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinsons disease and Alzheimers disease occur together in many patients with sleep disorders. Our founder, Ueda, is a professor at the University of Tokyos Graduate School of Medicine. He specializes in sleep and circadian rhythms and is a world-renowned scientist in this area.
