ACRES West Connacht

ACRES West Connacht is an agri-environment climate measure (AECM) that caters for over 10,000 farmers across parts of counties Galway, Mayo, Sligo and Roscommon. Following the co-operation approach the scheme will respond to local environmental and farming needs, Using a habitats-based approach, delivered through a mix of results-based and prescriptive actions, we aim to achieve improved biodiversity, climate, air and water quality outcomes. Through a hybrid payment model farmers will be rewarded and incentivised to maintain and enhance the environmental condition of their farmland. There are two approaches under the ACRES scheme: Participant farmers will have the support of a local team, who will assist with the implementation of the scheme at the local level.
