African Rural University (ARU)

African Rural University is a value based all -womens University located in Kagadi district in Bunyoro sub region of Western Uganda along Kagadi-Hoima road. ARU provides transformation education to create effective change agents within the African Development context. ARU was founded by Uganda Rural Development and Training Programme (URDT) with the focus of providing women with the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to be effective change agents. It applies theoretical learning, innovative instruction and field practice to enable graduates to create conditions for people to improve their lives and communities. ARU education model is 60% theory and 40% practical where students live and work with communities in order to cause Rural Transformation. It currently offers two courses: Bachelor of Rural Development(BRD) and Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Agriculture (BSSA).
