At Akash Systems, Inc. (San Francisco, CA), we design and make some of the worlds most energy efficient RF Power Amplifiers, and the CubeSats (small LEO orbital satellites). Our innovation is made possible by the breakthrough materials we use: gallium nitride (GaN)-on-Diamond wafers. In GaN-on-Diamond, the hottest parts of a transistor is brought to within tens of nanometers of diamond - the worlds most thermally conductive material. The effect is a cooler state of operation - dramatically improving energy efficiency, and reducing a systems size, weight, and operating costs
