Akron Hardware is a specialized wholesale distributor committed to providing quality door hardware, parts, and components along with industry leading customer service. In 1960, Joe Orihel and Roger Judy, founded Akron Hardware in downtown Akron, Ohio. Being a small contract distributor, they struggled with long lead times from manufacturers and made a strategic decision to change the direction of their company. In 1978, Akron Hardware become the first nationwide wholesale distributor of Corbin products. The company experienced steady growth and added dozens of new product lines. A new facility was built in Akron, plus distribution facilities in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Tennessee were constructed. This gave Akron Hardware the ability to ship product to 90% of the country in two days or less via FedEx Ground Service.
