1953 Work commenced in downtown Youngstown, Ohio on a revolutionary, transistorized, continuous spark ignition system that used a continuous alternating current discharge across the spark electrodes. 1955 The Economy Engine Company was founded to commercialize the continuous spark ignition system. 1964 The Economy Engine Company moved to new facilities in Liberty Township, Ohio, a suburb of Youngstown. The company focus shifted to filling the need for a reliable ignition system to replace magnetos on critical, continuous operation industrial engines. 1969 The Altronic Division moved to a 10,000 sq ft facility, its current location at 712 Trumbull Avenue in Girard, Ohio. 1977 The plant was physically expanded by an additional 2000 sq ft. 1981 Production facilities were doubled to 24,000 sq ft, with an additional 4,000 sq ft acquired the following year in a nearby facility to house the new digital instrument division. 1984 The Altronic Division of the Economy Engine Company became Alt...
