In 1990 Barry Pounders was working as a Paramedic at the Phil Campbell Rescue Squad in Alabama when he noticed that they were having difficulty getting their claims paid and he wondered why. After digging in and finding out everything he could about Medicare law and insurance companies he started billing claims for the Rescue Squad. After a short while they started getting reimbursed for the vast majority of their calls. Eventually, it started getting around that the Rescue Squad was getting paid for most of their ambulance transports and Barry began to gain new customers through word-of-mouth. Before long Barry had to recruit his wife, Joyce, to help him at night when they both got home from their day jobs working in the school system because he was so busy As time went on Barry eventually started employing people from the community and the business began to grow.
