Animal Friends Jogja

AFJ is a grass roots non-profit NGO working to improve conditions and advocate for animal welfare to be incorporated into policy, and implemented in practical terms, around Indonesia. It all began in 2009, with the individual works and awareness of six individuals living in Yogyakarta who were working to better the plight of animals in their community. They came together to begin educating the local public about animal rights and welfare. AFJ now works in partnership with the Indonesian public and authorities to raise awareness on animal welfare and rights through humane education programs, local and international campaigns, and government advocacy programs; to protect animals from abuse and exploitation, including farmed, companion, and wild animals; and to promote meat reduction and cruelty free eating.
