The Mission - Apogee is a Design, Engineering, and limited run manufacturing firm focused on affording midsize to large organizations the opportunity to function as startups once again. The Story - Our vision came to us in the late 70s when a biologic company named Bethesda Research Labs connected with Apogee looking to bring commercially viable apparatus to market for use with their products in place of on-the-fly rigs, produced by lab techs in that era. The combined team developed the S2, a revolutionary DNA sequencer of its time. Helping to launch a local Maryland firm from a biologic company to the biotech juggernaut we know today as Life Technologies, now part of Fisher Scientific, with what became the world standard in manual sequencing.
