Atlas was originally established in 1978 by the Sheppard family as an awning company in a little shop in Surrey BC, but because of client demand for full exterior sign packages, started manufacturing signs in 1980. The current owners, who were key employees at the time, purchased the company in 1992. They knew Atlas strengths and had a keen desire to grow the company. Doug Sheppard, one of the current owners, is a relative of the founding owner and maintains the Sheppard family linage.
