Ayang Trust

Ayang Trust (est. 2017) is dedicated to enabling quality education and dignified livelihoods for underserved communities in Northeast India. Based in Majuli, a riverine island and the only island district in India, home to 170,000 population (2011 Census), primarily from tribal communities such as the Mising and Deori. Majuli, surrounded by the mighty Brahmaputra, faces recurring floods and severe land erosion, which have long hindered the regions development. Due to geographical isolation, systemic barriers, and annual floods, the education system has remained dismal, and approximately 75% of the population continues to rely on subsistence agriculture. This lack of financial security further worsens access to health care and basic needs.
