Azkuna Zentroa

Azkuna Zentroa houses one of the citys most representative buildings, a cultural and leisure space with a varied offering for everyone visiting it. A meeting point to share, learn and enjoy different cultural, leisure and sporting proposals, individually, in groups or as a family, which are suitable for all publics. The 43,000 sq m of Azkuna Zentroa are located in the citys former wine warehouse. A building with a modernist air, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest by the Basque Government in 1999, where past, present and future all merge into one. The facades and part of the space designed by the Bilbao architect Ricardo Bastida at the beginning of the 20th century have been retained and refurbished. The outside classic style contrasts with the interior urban space, designed in a singular, innovative and sober way by Philippe Starck, which crystallises the life and energy of the city of Bilbao.
