During the years 1993-1995, construction of the runway number 2 at the Baku airport was accomplished successfully with support of the specialists from German company WIRTGEN. On May 28, 1995, the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan advised to maintain relationships with German specialists. Therefore, AZVIRT was established in 1995 as Azerbaijan-Germany Joint Venture. Later the company was renamed AZVIRT Limited Liability Company. The company started its business by constructing urban roads in Baku and eventually transformed itself to an international company providing full service for motorway and airport infrastructure projects.
