Bridging Portuguese inspirations from our founders native country with his New York design experience drove the creation of AZZUL, with a philosophy of honoring the past to design for the future. Drawing inspiration from Portugals rich history, culture, and industries, AZZUL reinterprets classic footwear silhouettes with a modern flair. We draw design inspiration from the azulejos, tin-glazed ceramic tilework, which adorn the exteriors buildings, Portuguese art, history, folk traditions, and significant industries. Each of AZZULs shoes is handmade being touched by multiple artisans throughout construction, highlighting the centuries-old shoemaking industry in Portugal.
