BANGSAMORO HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION

The Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission is the human rights institution of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao and the first office created by the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) through RA11054 otherwise known as the Bangsamoro Organic Law and further operationalized by the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 4 or the Bangsamoro Human Rights Act of 2019. With the human rights violations and injustices committed against the Bangsamoro people from the past, the creation of BHRC was called for more than ever. The BHRC was vested the powers and function to, among others: -promote human rights through education and training; -protect human rights by conducting investigations and monitoring; -advise the government on human rights protection and promotion; -protect human rights defenders; -and to act as transitional justice mechanism.
