Barak Fund Management, based in Mauritius, has been active since late 2008 and launched its flagship Structured Trade Finance Fund in February 2009. The Fund Manager manages the offshore Cayman Islands-based Barak Fund Segregated Portfolio of Companies. The company has historically been active in providing alternative short-term commodity trade and working capital financing solutions in Africa, and currently works with over 140 SME borrowers across more than 25 commodity sectors in 20 countries on the continent. Midway through 2016, the company expanded its activities to provide development and project financing across the medium and long-term debt and mezzanine funding space in Africa, establishing itself as the leading alternative financier for all deal tenors within the African Emerging Markets region.
