On May 6, 1992 BIHA became the member of International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Evgeni Ankuda was the first BIHA Chairman. Later on this position was held by Lev Kontarovich and Yuri Borodich. From 2001 till 2009 Vladimir Naumov was the Chairman of the main hockey organization in Belarus he was also named BIHA honorable Chairman. In March 2010 Evgeni Vorsin was elected to the position of Chairman. The year 2014 became a milestone in the history of the Belarusian ice hockey. For the first time in history Minsk hosted 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. In October 2014 Mr. Igor Rachkovsky, First Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus, was elected as BIHA Chairpeson
