Bishop Benziger Hospital - India

Bishop Benziger Hospital, the very first private hospital of Quilon was founded by Bishop Jerome Fernandez Thuppasseril the first indigenous Bishop of the Latin Catholic Diocese of Quilon. Bishop Jerome created this hospital as a glowing tribute as well to perpetuate the memory of his most admired predecessor Bishop Aloysious Maria Benziger. As a result the first private hospital started its functioning on August 17th 1948,the date being the first death anniversary of Bishop Benziger. The proprietorship of the hospital is solely vested with the Latin Catholic Diocese of Quilon. From a humble beginning of thirteen huts, over the years Bishop Benziger Hospital had providentially transformed into the biggest multi & super specialty hospital of the vicinity.
