British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority (BVIHSA)

The BVI Health Services Authority (The Authority or BVIHSA) was established through the enactment of the BVI Health Services Authority Act of 2004 by the BVI House of Assembly. This commencement established the Health Services as a statutory body - an umbrella body responsible for delivering public health services throughout the territory of British Virgin Islands. While the Authoritys Board of Management oversees the general operations of the organization, it should be noted that the BVIHSA is mandated to provide health care on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Social Development. Presently, health services are delivered through the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital, an 85-bed in-patient acute care facility, a Primary Healthcare / Urgent Care Center on Virgin Gorda; and community health services, providing Primary Health Care Programs through 9 Community clinics scattered across the Territory.
