Bruce Bauer

4 Generations and Growing- In 1938, Bruce Bauer opened his shops doors for the first time in Medford, Oregon. After building several homes in San Mateo County in 1946, he saw the need for a lumber yard, inspiring him to open his second store in San Carlos, California. Originally opened as a contractor yard, over the years we have evolved into a do-it-yourself home center with strong emphasis on practical advice and quality customer service for home owners. Don Thom bought the lumber yard from his father-in-law, Bruce Bauer in 1966. In 1971, he purchased Bickell Brothers Lumber at San Antonio Circle in Mountain View, turning it into a Bruce Bauer Lumber & Supply. Two of Dons sons, Darryl and Dave took interest in the shop at a young age. They had to learn from the bottom up and became familiar with all phases of building materials and home construction.
