Cape Fear Volunteer Center

OUR MISSION: To match volunteers and agencies with service opportunities in the Cape Fear Region, through direct and indirect services: Big Buddy, LifeGuide, National Days of Service, Kids Voting, and CareNet. Cape Fear Volunteer Centers Big Buddy program is a one-on-one mentoring program that matches at risk youth ages 5-16 in New Hanover County with positive adult role models. The Cape Fear Volunteer Center works to recruit and train volunteers, matches volunteers with youth, offers support and guidance through case management, and provides monthly group activities. LifeGuides is a program that matches enrollees ages 16-21 who are in or who have been in DSS foster care in New Hanover County with qualified adult mentors. In addition to the need to have a caring adult in their lives, many of the young adults in this program also need one to one guidance on college, apartments, training programs, and various young adult rites of passage.
