CARGOMARINE CORPORATIONs roots can be traced back to the beginnings of REYES & LIM COMPANY, INC. (RLC). RLC is a Philippine corporation founded in 1960 by Jose M. Reyes and Bienvenido L. Lim who graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York. The Company started as ship operators, managers, ship building consultants, shipbrokers and ship agents for over 50 years. The early years were devoted to naval architecture, marine engineering and ocean transport system economies. Its business activity ranged from owning LPG and LAG tankers to management of ocean vessels such as, cape-size bulk carriers in the Philippines. The first ship owned by RLC was the American built dry cargo steamer Timber Coast acquired in 1967. In 1968, RLC commissioned the clean product tanker Alkene chartered to MOBIL trading U.S. Pacific Trust Territories.
