Eight years ago, around a kitchen table, a group of families realized they shared a common fear: Whats going to happen to my child when I am no longer around to care them? This fear turned into a shared dream a dream of creating Exceptional Housing for Exceptional People. Casa Familia is developing the first-of-its-kind enriched affordable housing community for adults with IDD and other related disabilities in South Florida. Through generous support and guidance from public and private partnerships, Casa Familia is creating a multi-phase affordable residential community designed to serve the needs of a broad spectrum of individuals with IDD and other related disabilities. Phase I will consist of 50 spacious one- and two-bedroom apartments that can accommodate approximately 60 adults, and an 11,000 square foot state-of-the-art community center.
