Court Appointed Special Advocates - CASA of San Mateo County empowers YOU to make a difference in the life of a child who has been abused or neglected. What We do: CASA of San Mateo County recruits, trains, and supports adult volunteers as a powerful voice for the best interest of abused and neglected children who have come under the courts protection because their parents cant or wont take care of them. What CASA Volunteers do: They listen first. Then they act. Volunteers devote 2-4 hours a week getting to know the child by talking with everyone in that childs life: parents and relatives, foster parents, teachers, medical professionals, attorneys, social workers and others. They use the information they gather to inform judges and others of what the child needs and what will be the best permanent home for them.
