CATrak Technologies, Inc. has addressed the widespread theft of catalytic converters in the United States, Canada, and Europe with the only solution that alerts of a theft in progress. Thefts of catalytic converters in commercial and consumer vehicles reached an all-time high in 2021, with many large cities reporting over 500% increases year over year. California alone expects an increase in thefts of catalytic converters to triple over the next two years. Los Angeles Catalytic Converter theft increased over 400% in 2021, Quebec 700%, and 338% globally. Current efforts to stem the surge in thefts are woefully inadequate and ineffective, with the most common prevention guidance to park in a garage or well-lit areas near high traffic.
