In February 1994 the company started as Confidential Background Investigations, dba CBI Security Services, providing background services to employers of Salt Lake and the surrounding areas. In August 1995 they partnered with the Salt Lake City Corporation and started their first physical security services at the City and County Building in downtown Salt Lake. The relationship developed over the past seventeen years, to include five additional locations, making CBI the largest security contractor for the City of Salt Lake.
