In the year 1970, a small cell was created within GIIC to impart the entrepreneurship training. It was the first attempt of its kind in the whole country and turned out to be a phenomenal success. Later on, over a period of nine years, 80 Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDPs) were conducted and over 50% after completing the training successfully set up their own industrial ventures. Enthused by the above success, an independent body- THE CENTER FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT (CED) was set up in the year 1979.
