Center for Health Promotion

The mission of CEDAPS is to improve health and quality of life of poor communities in Brazil, through health promotion and community development programs, advocacy and research. For CEDAPS, health is an equivalent to equity and quality of life, attained by improving access to basic social resources such as education, a healthy environment, housing, work, culture, recreation, good nutrition, security and health care services. CEDAPS Empowers communities to become active stakeholders, generating solutions with available resources, and networking in order to obtain more resources and to participate in public policies; Creates and test new models for Public Policies, improving their quality, increasing equity and health. CEDAPS started co-creating a Comprehensive Primary Health Care model that eventually became the Family Health Strategy in Brazil, now covering 100 million people.
