Centre for Peace and Democracy

Centre for Peace and Democracy (CPD) is a national non-profit and non-political organization in Somalia that was founded in 2003. As the name suggest, CPDs original mandate was to solely build peace, reduce conflicts, promote human rights, advance good governance and democratization. However, in 2007, the organization expanded its scope to include humanitarian assistance, poverty reduction through socio-economic development for the communities it serves and supporting the countrys stabilization initiatives as a measure to respond to the prevailing needs of the communities. CPD is committed to stopping violent conflict and creating more peaceful societies. For over 17 years we have been bringing together communities torn apart by violence and mistrust, helping people resolve their differences.
