Centro La Familia Advocacy Services

Over fifty years ago, Centro La Familia Advocacy Services was born out of a desire to help the most vulnerable in our community. It was started by a group of vibrant, pioneering students from Fresno City Colleges Chicano Studies class, who began to help families by explaining processes, filling out complex government forms, and providing translation services in a volunteer operation outside the public benefits office. This volunteer project was later incorporated into a nonprofit organization, and the County of Fresno, seeing the benefits of the service, became its first funder. These were our humble beginnings. Over the past five decades, we have become an important beacon for families that provides a multitude of social services and educational programs in rural and urban areas of Fresno County.
