Founded in 1846 by the brothers Jules and Auguste Devaux, it was taken over by Madame Augusta Devaux, one of Champagnes great characters who ran their companies with as much energy as skill. The step forward that she had initiated led to the company being renamed Maison Veuve A. Devaux on her death.
