Chawton House

Chawton House is a beautiful Elizabethan manor house, once owned by Jane Austens brother Edward Knight. The House and Gardens are open to visitors, and the historic setting brings to life the context within which Jane Austen lived. We run a lively and varied events programme, including online and evening talks, workshops, music recitals and international conferences. We also have a unique collection of womens writing which is accessible to anyone who wishes to use it.
