There are two fields of medicine: basic medicine and clinical medicine. With more than 100 years of history, Chiba Universitys Graduate School of Medicine and School of Medicine now focuses on the promotion of research in Innovative Therapeutics (Chiryougaku in Japanese), a new field that connects those two fields of medicine and seeks to cultivate Physician-scientists and Medical researchers. A physician-scientist is someone who pursues research in Therapeutics and connects the results of state-of-the-art basic research to the development of new therapies to improve the QOL of patients and/or to cure refractory disease. While enrolled in the School of Medicine, students may participate in the Scholarship Program, and severalStudent Exchange Program.
