Chinese Medicine Council of New Zealand

The purpose of the Council is to protect the health and safety of the public by giving effect to the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (the HPCA Act), and the mechanisms it provides to ensure that Chinese medicine practitioners are competent and fit to practise Chinese medicine. Some of the Councils functions include: - prescribing qualifications required for scopes of practice - accrediting and monitoring educational institutions and degrees, courses of studies, or programmes - setting standards of clinical competence, ethical conduct, and cultural safety and cultural competence for the profession - authorising the registration of practitioners - considering applications for practising certificates - reviewing and promoting the competence of practitioners - receiving complaints about the conduct, competence or fitness of Chinese medicine practitioners - promoting education and training within the profession - notifying employers, ACC, the Director-General of Healt...
