The City of Margate encompasses nine square miles of tree-lined streets, 30 miles of canals and is home to more than 57,000 residents. The City was originally created as a municipal corporation in 1955 known as the Town of Margate, and in 1961, the Town was incorporated as a City. Margate is perfectly situated in northern Broward County only 7.5 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and approximately 20 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades.
