The mission of the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office is to provide public safety services to the people in Clackamas County so they can experience a safe and secure community. Clackamas County is one of Oregons most scenic and diverse regions -- ranging from urban to rural farmland to the gorgeous Mt. Hood National Forest. Its an hour-and-a-half from the Pacific Ocean. Clackamas County is home to two major interstates and over 7,900 miles of roadways. Eleven cities can be found in the countys 1,879 square miles, but over 87 percent of county land is rural. Its Oregons 18th-largest county and nearly the size of the State of Delaware. Roughly 423,000 people live in Clackamas County, making it the third most populous county in the state. Mt. Hoods 11,239-foot summit -- less than an hour from the countys suburban north end -- offers year-round skiing and snowboarding. Over 10,000 people climb its peak every year.
