Established in 1869 as the first equestrian center of the Chilean capital destined exclusively for horse racing, Club Hipico de Santiago had its official inauguration, as well as its first races on September 20th, 1870, under the direction of its first president, Don Francisco Baeza Sotomayor. Located on the grounds adjacent to downtown Santiago, surrounded by the most prestigious households of the thriving city, the enclosure had since its beginnings the current location and design of its course oriented from north to south, where its stands look towards the imposing massif from the Andes Mountains.
