Coastguard Northern Region

Coastguards purpose is very clear - to save lives at sea. Our vision is to have everybody safe on the water. We will save lives through rescue, education, communication and example. Coastguard maintains an infrastructure right around the coast of New Zealand to ensure we are there when the New Zealand public need us. In the Northern Region we cover from Thames, across to Kawhia and up both coasts to the Far North. We have strategically located rescue vessels, comprehensive marine VHF coverage and units that all go in to making up this infrastructure. Coastguard is a volunteer run, member supported, community funded and sponsored not-for-profit organisation. However, we could not run as efficiently as we do without our staff. Our regional headquarters in Mechanics Bay, Auckland is home to our Operation Centre made up of our Operations team who ensure the efficiency of this 24 hour facility.
