commUNITY Fresno is a collaborative effort to unite the Fresno community, with a shared vision to enrich our city through mutual respect and cooperation. We imagine all of Fresnos citizens working together to make it a better place. In November 2008, history was made as an African-American was voted into the Presidents office on the promise of hope and change. On election night, Obama spoke of this change: This victory alone is not the change we seek. It is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were. It cant happen without you, without a new spirit of service, a new spirit of sacrifice. So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other. That same evening, as Obamas victory brought hope to millions, the passage of Proposition 8 in California stripped away hundreds of rights from the LGBT community....
