Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO)

The Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) is the EU agency responsible for protecting plant variety rights (PVR) in the EU. The CPVO offer breeders and innovators an EU-wide PVR for new creations. Since the creation of the CPVO in 1995, it has processed over 51,000 PVR applications. In 2014, CPVO applications experienced a 10% increase on its 2013 applications which was also a record year. The CPVO is a self-financed decentralised body of the EU, based in Angers, France
