Congregation Agudath Israel

Founded in 1920 as the Jewish League of Caldwell, CAI began its humble existence with approximately 30 families who recognized the need for a Jewish spiritual presence in the Caldwells. Among the founders were Harry Goodwin, Joseph Salper, Harry Krill, Jacob Lasser, Isaac Levy, William Stark and Joseph Bloom. We provide a wide variety of religious, educational, cultural, social and activist venues for Jewish living, led by an exceptional professional staff, an engaged lay leadership and an open and growing team of volunteers. We seek to enable our diverse and multi-generational membership to experience Judaism in ways that have personal meaning, promoting Jewish values as they move through the Jewish life cycle.
