Cook Colliery

Cook Colliery is located approximately 27 kilometres south of Blackwater in Queenslands Bowen Basin. Cook Colliery was added to QCoals portfolio following its acquisition from Bounty Mining in 2020. The underground metallurgical mine had been in care and maintenance since December 2019 until its return to operational status in February 2022. The mine site has a long history through both longwall but more predominantly bord pillar mining methods since the 1970s. Cook Colliery will reconvene its transitioning to place change mining method started prior to QCoals acquisition. Cook Colliery produces an attractive coking coal product, with high Fluidity, medium volatile and low sulphur content together with a high-quality thermal coal by-product. The Cook Colliery CHPP consists of ancillary surface conveyors and ROM coal stockpile, private haul road for ROM coal, coal preparation plant, product stockpiles, train loader and reject disposal sites.
