From author events, book clubs to book fairs, Copperfields has been committed to literature, education, and community. Copperfields has a reputation throughout Northern California for creating vibrant gathering places which offer cozy surroundings for booklovers. It began as a vision for a truly full-service community-based bookstore by owners Paul Jaffe and Barney Brown, who purchased Sebastopols Myst Bookstore in June of 1981 and changed the name to Copperfields Books. From that 725 square foot storefront, Copperfields began to attract booklovers from all over Sonoma County. By 1983, the Sebastopol store had moved to its present location in the old Analy Five & Dime building and also opened a second store in Montgomery Village, Santa Rosa. Along with the stores in Sebastopol and Santa Rosa, Copperfields has locations in Petaluma, Napa, Calistoga, and Healdsburg.
