Cox Construction has enjoyed success in our highly competitive industry since 1946 by providing a superior service to people and communities in a rapidly changing world. In 1946, Russell M. Cox, began his construction career with the purchase of a used crusher and set up operations in Hillsburgh. Shortly after Cox Construction was founded. It was not long before Cox Construction Company broke into the mainstream of the construction industry. Before the end of the first year, Cox was awarded its first Department of Highways contract on Highway 24 outside Guelph. To secure the building and establishment of a firm company foundation, Cox spent its first years working predominately in Northern Ontario. After operating successfully as a gravel contractor, Mr. Cox became alert to the growing asphalt industry. To equip the company in this field, Cox Construction Company erected, in 1953, its first Portable Hot Mix Asphalt Plant on Highway 26 east of Stayner. The following year...
