CTtransit brand is ranked as New Englands second largest and Connecticuts largest state-owned fixed-route bus system. Headquartered in Hartford, CT, with divisions in New Haven and Stamford, we have a team of 1,250 employees that continues to grow. Our fleet of 520 buses transport approximately 20 million riders annually within the CTtransit Hartford, New Haven, and Stamford markets, operating a network of nearly 100 local and 13 express bus routes. We provide service to more than 60 cities and towns in Connecticut and bordering state of New York. The Connecticut Department of Transportations Bureau of Public Transportation (CTDOT) acquired CTtransit in 1976, transitioning the private ownership of the Colony Company, headed by E. Clayton Gengras, to public ownership.
