Czechia

Czechia is our homeland. Czechia [/tki./] or Cesko [tsk] in Czech is the official English short-form and geographical name for the Czech Republic. This name is recognized by the United Nations and is included in the UNO Gazetteers of Geographical Names. It is also the only form of the countrys name listed by the British Permanent Committee on Geographical Names (PCGN). The State Department of Foreign Affairs first proposed Czechia in 1991, but it wasnt until 2016 that it received parliamentary approval. In 2022, the Czech Football Association adopted Cesko and Czechia, and more sports are following through. Among others, Czechia has been adopted by Google Maps, the worlds most widely used search tool for geographic facts, which reflects the increasing usage of the name.
