De Raat was founded in the 1950s by Mr. G.W. De Raat from Zoetermeer in the Netherlands. Originally a locksmith by trade, Mr. De Raat had a vision of becoming a major supplier of high quality safes and secure storage in the international safe market. In 1967 De Raat Wholesale B.V. was created, which then changed to De Raat Security Products in 1989. The European headquarters remains in Zoetermeer to this day, however De Raat has since opened offices in Belgium and the UK and supply many markets outside of Europe.
