The Department of Earth Science, founded as the Department of Geology in 1948, was among the first departments to relocate to its current location from the Achimota campus. Since its establishment, the department has been the only University department which trains professionals in the core geology disciplines. It has been the hub for training professionals in the core and applied geology disciplines for the past 70 years. Our products are pioneers in mineral exploration, hydrocarbon resources exploration, hydrogeological practice, geological engineering practice, and general geological practice in Ghana in the West African sub-region
