Djibouti Red Crescent

The National Red Crescent Society of Djibouti was created on August 1, 1977. It was established on the basis of the Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949 and the additional protocols of June 8, 1977 to which the Republic of Djibouti adhered. The Djibouti Red Crescent, as an auxiliary of the public authorities, contributes, thanks to its network of volunteers present in even the most remote regions, to improving the living conditions of vulnerable groups without replacing the public authorities and disrupt the culture of community solidarity. The Djibouti Red Crescent is present throughout the national territory. Apart from the central headquarters in the capital, there are decentralized structures or local committees at the level of the 5 regions. The Djibouti Red Crescent is a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross
