DMM SALES SDN. BHD. (Wholly owned by Daihatsu (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd) It was in the year of 1994 where Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad started the idea to have second national car project after the successful of Proton in 1983. In line with Look East Policy idealism by Tun Dr. Mahatir at that time, Daihatsu products becoming the best preferred choice because it is appropriate to have small and compact car or on the other hand Kei-car segment as it in Japan. The idea accelerate bringing Kei-Car segment as a beginning platform for the next Malaysia second car project. The dream became one step closer when Y.Bhg Dato Abdul Rahim Abdul Halim together with his most reliable partner Tan Sri Ahmad Azizzuddin, Dato Yap Lim Sin and Mr. Wong Leng Thien established DMM Sales Sdn Bhd.
